MEN'S BASKETBALL EARNS KEY NJAC WIN OVER TCNJ IN OT 78-77

Ewing, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team won a key NJAC road game 78-77 in overtime at rival the College of New Jersey. The Roadrunners improve to 15-8 overall, 11-5 in the NJAC while the Lions drop to 13-10 overall, 8-8 in the conference.
 
The Roadrunners took a 37-33 lead into the second half where they saw their ten point lead (64-54) with 6:27 on the clock slip away down the stretch as TCNJ was able to tie the game to force overtime.  The Lions went on a 14-4 run to close out the second half. TCNJ got a pair of made free throws from Elias Bermudez with 1:03 left on the clock before he blocked a Roadrunner shot to head the other way. Eric Murdock scored a fast break layup off a pass from Bermudez to tie the game at 68.
 
In the overtime period, TCNJ came out and sank a three-pointer to take a quick three point lead 71-68 before Thomas Bonacum hit two free throws for the Roadrunners to come within one 70-71. The Lions's biggest lead came with 3:17 on the clock when Eric Klacik sank a pair of free throws to go up 75-70. Ramapo began their come back going on a mini 6-0 run. Christopher Moseley hit a pair of free throws before Frank Nock and Cory Soanes hit back-to-back shots to take a 76-75 lead with 1:09 left in the game. Following a Ramapo foul, TCNJ missed a pair of free throws but was able to get an offensive rebound and Murdock converted a layup to take back the lead 77-76 with 26 seconds remaining. Bonacum was fouled with eight seconds on the clock sending him to the free throw line where he sank both shots 78-77. TCNJ was able to get a three-point shot off in the final seconds but it did not fall allowing the Roadrunners to come home with a NJAC road win.
 
Bonacum led both teams with a career-high 30 points, including finishing 11-17 from the field while he also added 12 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season.  Nock added 14 points, hitting four three-pointers while Soanes added 12 points of his own. Moseley contributed with ten points, seven rebounds and three blocks. The Roadrunners shot 47% (29-61) from the field in the game, 37% (6-16) from the three-point line and a perfect 14-14 from the free throw line. The Ramapo defense forced 19 TCNJ turnovers allowing the Roadrunners to score 20 points.
 
TCNJ had four players score in double figures. Murdock led the team with 18 points and eight assists while Klacik posted 15 points of his own. Nick Alaimo and Kevin Bloodgood recorded 12 and 11 points respectively. Bermudez led the team with nine rebounds while he added four assists. TCNJ shot 40% (28-69) from the field, 36% (12-33) from the three-point line and 69% (9-13) from the free throw line.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, February 13th when they host Rutgers-Camden University at 3pm.
