BONACUM NETS CAREER HIGH IN NJAC WIN OVER STOCKTON

Mahwah, NJ:  With a career high 33 points, junior Thomas Bonacum led the Ramapo College men's basketball team to an 86-69 victory today over the Ospreys of Stockton University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up.  Ramapo remains undefeated at 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the NJAC, while the Ospreys fall to 2-3 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
 
Bonacum shot 8-17 from the field and a perfect 14-14 from the charity stripe to collect his career high 33 points.  He added 16 rebounds for a double-double while collecting five steals in the win.  Christopher Moseley would finish the game with 21 points as the team went 31-72 (43%) on the day.  Sultan Aminu pulled down eight rebounds and James Long finished with four assists.
 
In the opening three and a half minutes, the two teams traded three-point goals with Brandon Hamilton hitting one for the Ospreys, answered by Bonacum.  Tom Catanoso would hit one of his own before the Ospreys would hit a jump shot to go up, 8-3 and force a Ramapo time out.  A jump shot from Nick Stanek would close the gap, 7-10 and Moseley would put Ramapo within one point, 11-12 with 12:28 on the clock.  With 8:42 to go, Bonacum sunk a jumper and hit a free throw on an and-one play to close the gap to 16-17 before Bonacum would nail a three to give Ramapo a 19-17 lead.  Hamilton gave the Ospreys the lead once again at 22-21 before two free throws from Bonacum would again flip the lead back to Ramapo at 23-22.  The lead would change four more times until 3:25 when a free throw from Bonacum put the Roadrunners on top where they stood for the remainder of the half.  Ramapo would work to an eight point, 42-34 advantage at the buzzer.  Bonacum led all scorers with 22 points and Mosely added ten, as the team shot 13-34 (38%) in the half.  Stockton was led by Khaliq Ford with ten points and the team went 12-20 (60%). 
 
The Ospreys would hit four straight three point goals to start the second half to tie the game at 46 all and the two teams traded baskets over the next two plus minutes to work to a 51-51 game with 16:25 to go.  Bonacum and Moseley would both capitalize on back-to-back and-one plays to put Ramapo ahead by ten (67-57) with 9:31 to play and Moseley would drain a long shot at 6:59 to put Ramapo up, 76-60.  Ramapo led by 20 (82-62) with a basket from Zahir Newell and would finish the game with the 86-69 conference victory.  Bonacum added 11 points in the second half and Moseley chipped in 11 of his own while Josh Ford netted ten.  Ramapo hit 18-38 (47%) from the field.  Hamilton collected an additional 12 points in the final half of play as the team shot 12-27 (44%). 
 
Hamilton finished on top of all Ospreys as he shot 6-11 from the field including 4-8 from three point range.  Catanoso collected 15 points and Ford added 12.  The team hit 24-47 (51%) in the loss.  Catanoso led the way with four assists and six steals.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, December 7th when they travel to Rutgers Newark for an 8pm tip.
