Montclair, NJ: The Red Hawks of Montclair State outlasted the Ramapo College women's basketball team as they defeated the Roadrunners, 57-46 on their home court in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up. With the win the Red Hawks remain undefeated at 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference while the Roadrunners fall to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
The lead changed two times and the game was tied on two occasions in the opening quarter but with a two-point goal from Taylor Harmon in the final seconds of the first quarter, the Red Hawks would go ahead 10-8 and would never look back leading the remainder of the game. Montclair's biggest lead came in the third quarter on two occasions when a free throw from Alex McKinnon at 1:53 and a layup from Yazmine Lacey at 1:21 would put the Red Hawks up by 20. Ramapo would spend the final quarter fighting to close the gap coming within 11 at the final buzzer, falling short in the NJAC match-up.
Shelby Ringer led all Roadrunners with 12 points and
Kellie Lane chipped in eight as the team shot a combined 18-50 (36%) on the night.
Bridgette Buckalew pulled down seven rebounds and led with five assists while Ringer and
Jenna Harsh each grabbed two steals.
Rachael Krauss led Montclair with 15 points and Katie Sire pulled down nine rebounds.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, December 3rd when they host Richard Stockton at 3pm at the Bradley Center.
