STOCKTON DROPS RAMAPO IN NJAC MATCH-UP

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's basketball team played host to the #23 ranked Ospreys of Stockton University today in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up where the Ospreys finished on top of Ramapo, 79-55.  With the win the Ospreys improve to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference.  Ramapo falls to 3-3 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
 
Two Ospreys finished with double-doubles and two others collected double-digit points as Stockton out lasted the Roadrunners in the conference match-up.  Najha Treadwell recorded 19 points and 12 rebounds and Sasha Williams walked away with 14 points and ten boards as the team shot 29-62 (47%) in the win.  Taylor Christina netted 16 points and Mikila Stefanski chipped in 11 of her own on the day.  Williams dished out a team high five assists.
 
Ramapo scored first in the game with baskets from Jina Crawford and Tia Solomon before the Ospreys would connect a 14-0 run, capped off with threes from Lea Mendolla and Stefanski to take a 14-4 lead with 3:02 left in the quarter.  The Roadrunners would spend the remainder of the quarter chipping away at Stockton's lead to trail by just four, 14-18 at the buzzer.  In the second, the Ospreys would work to an eight point lead with a jumper from Treadwell with 3:52 on the clock before Ramapo hit back-to-back baskets to come within four at 1:36 with a basket from Solomon.  Kellie Lane hit a two-point goal at the halftime buzzer to head into the locker room trailing by five points, 26-31.  Bintou Berete led Ramapo with nine points in the half as the team went 10-31 (32%).  Stockton combined shooting 12-27 (44%) with Mendolla and Treadwell each netting eight points.
 
In the third quarter, Christina drained a three with 6:03 on the clock for a 42-31 Stockton lead before working to a 46-31 advantage at 4:40 with another basket from Christina.  A long three from Shelby Ringer with just nine seconds on the clock would close out the third with Stockton on top, 52-40.  The Ospreys would continue to control the offensive play in the remainder of the game earning the 79-55 conference win.  Stockton shot 17-35 in the half with Williams leading the way with 12 points.  Christina and Treadwell each added 11.  Ringer, Solomon, and Jenna Harsh each netted five points for Ramapo in the final half of play.  Ramapo hit a combined 9-30.
 
Berete led Ramapo with 14 points as the team went 19-61 (31%) in the loss.  Solomon finished with nine and Crawford recorded nine of her own.  Bridgette Buckalew led the team with five assists and Berete led in rebounds with seven.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, December 7th when they travel to Rutgers Newark for a 6pm tip.
