ROADRUNNERS NOTCH WIN BEHIND BONACUM'S 18 POINTS

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team, behind 18 points from Thomas Bonacum, earned a 107-72 non-conference victory tonight over the Cougars of Medgar Evers College to improve to 4-0 overall on the year.  Medgar Evers gets their fourth loss falling to 1-4.
 
Bonacum shot 6-12 from the field and 5-6 from the charity stripe as the team combined hitting 40-82 (49%) in the home court win.  Christopher Moseley sank 15 points in the win as Sultan Aminu and Connor Romano each netted 12.  Bonacum finished with five assists and Saint-Simeon Beaubrun pulled down a team high nine rebounds.
 
Josh Ford drained a three off an assist from Bonacum to start the game before Aminu added two points to open to a 5-0 lead.  Justin Sutton would respond for the Cougars with a long shot of his own to close the gap, 3-5 but Ramapo would work to a seven-point, 12-5 advantage with 15:36 on the clock and a jumper from Bonacum.  Back-to-back threes from the Cougars would close the gap to 13-15 with 13:18 to play before a mini 6-0 run with under nine to go would put the Roadrunners on top, 31-22, capped off with a two-point goal from Ford.  Ramapo would continue to spread the gap leading by 12 with a long three from James Long with 2:56 on the clock and the Roadrunners would finish out the half with a 46-37 lead over the Cougars after a buzzer beating long three from Sutton.  Bonacum led Ramapo with ten points in the half as the team went 19-40 (48%).  Bonacum led in assists with three and Aminu grabbed five rebounds.  For Medgar Evers, Maurice Swaby II collected 18 points as the Cougars went 13-34 (38%) from the field.  Shaquan Mitchell dished out five assists and Jafet Thomas pulled down seven boards. 
 
To start the second half, Ramapo would come out on fire and out score the Cougars, 15-5 to take a 61-42 lead.  The run was capped off with a dunk from Moseley, a fast break commencing with a dish from Bonacum.  Ramapo dominated the next six minutes of play as Salomon Pierre drained a three-point basket with 10:10 on the clock to go ahead 81-53, and with 9:38 to go Romano hit a three of his own for an 84-55 Roadrunner lead.  Down the stretch Ramapo would sink 23 points to Medgar Evers' 17 to take the non-conference win, 107-72.  Romano led Ramapo in the second half with ten points and Bonacum added eight of his own.  The team went 21-42 (50%).  Swaby would sink 15 for the Cougars and Sutton chipped in ten as the team shot 9-31 (29%) from the field.
 
Medgar Evers was led by Swaby with a dominating 33 points.  He shot 10-23 from the field including 7-15 from three-point range.  Sutton finished the night with 19 points as the team went 22-65 (34%).  Joevanny Dambreville pulled down nine rebounds and Shaquan Mitchell dished out seven assists.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, November 30th when they travel to NJAC rival Montclair State for an 8pm match-up.
