Poughkeepsie, NY: The Vassar College women's soccer team defeated Ramapo College today 4-0 in a non-conference match-up. Vassar improves to 8-6-1 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 3-9-1 overall.
The Roadrunners return to action Saturday afternoon when they host #10 Rowan University in a NJAC conference game at 1pm. Ramapo will honor their senior class in a pregame ceremony.
Vassar got on the board in the sixth (5:03) and seventh (6:59) minutes of the game with goals from Audrey Pillsbury and Jordyn Matthews to take a 2-0 lead just under seven minutes into the game. The score held until the second half when Rebecca Andrews tallied her eighth goal of the season (57:01) to take a 3-0 lead. Matthews added her second goal of the game, her fourth of the season in the 78th minute (77:47) extending the Vassar lead to 4-0.
Vassar held a 20-5 advantage in shots in the game and a slight edge in corner kicks 6-5. The Ramapo defense caught Vassar offside nine times in the game.
Elizabeth Harvell collected eight saves in the game while Stephanie Tapolsky collected one save for Vassar.
