Mahwah, NJ: The Rowan University women's soccer team defeated Ramapo College 5-1 today at the Athletic Center. The Profs remain undefeated with a 15-0-1 overall record and 7-0-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 3-10-1 overall and 3-5 in the conference.
The Profs, who are ranked #10 in the most recent NSCAA Top 25 National Poll, had to work hard for their first goal of the game, as they did not score until late in the first half. Lauren Coletti fed Tori Miller the ball, which Miller was able to convert for her first goal of the season and a 1-0 lead for Rowan. The goal came in the 44th minute of the game (43:03). Rowan held a 10-4 advantage in shots in the first half.
In the second half, Maxine New collected her first goal of the game and 10th of the season off a pass from Melissa Kelly in the 54th minute (53:50) before Kelly scored a goal of her own in the 58th minute (57:15) for a 3-0 Prof lead.
Ramapo would score just the third goal against the Profs on the year in the 77th minute (76:42) of action. A foul was called as it gave the Roadrunners a penalty shot.
Nani Vizcaino was able to rip a shot past the Rowan keeper to put the Ramapo on the board. Shannon Reardigan and New posted two unanswered goals to close out the game in the 78th (77:56) and 79th (78:40) minute, extending the Prof lead to 5-1.
Rowan held a 25-9 advantage in shots in the game including 14-7 in shots on goal while they also posted five corner kicks to Ramapo's one. The Ramapo defense held their backline during the game to catch the Profs offside 11 times.
Danielle Bach started in goal for Ramapo and tallied three saves in the game over 24 minutes of action.
Elizabeth Harvell posted five saves in just over 65 minutes of play for the Roadrunners. Shelby Money tallied six saves for the Profs in the complete game.
