HEALY SCORES IN 4-1 LOSS AT WPU

Mahwah, NJ:  The William Paterson University field hockey team posted a 4-1 NJAC conference victory tonight over Ramapo College. The Pioneers move to 7-8 overall, 2-2 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners fall to 2-9 overall, 0-4 in the conference.
 
WPU took a quick 1-0 lead in the first half with a goal in the third minute (2:14) of the game. Jessie Super collected her third goal of the season off a pass from Maureen Gill. Gill scored a goal of her own in the seventh minute (6:31) as Meghin Stanton and Michaela Meillier each collected an assist. Super put the Pioneers up 3-0 with the final goal of the first half in the 34th minute (33:37) as Courtney Allen assisted. WPU led 5-1 in shots in the first half while both teams recorded three corners.
 
Ramapo got on the board in the second half in the 59th minute (58:18) when Nicole Healy tallied her third goal of the season, cutting the deficit to two 3-1. Katie Stetser put the fourth goal into the back of the net for WPU in the 67th minute off a pass from Erin Sassaman, extending the Pioneer lead 4-1. WPU held a slight edge in shots in the game 9-6 including 6-5 on goal while Ramapo posted eight total corners in the game to WPU's six.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on October 22nd when they travel to Stockton University for a NJAC game at 1pm.
