Michaela Knoblock scored the game-winner as the Ramapo College women's soccer team defeated rival New Jersey City University on the road today 2-1. The Roadrunners improve to 3-8-1 overall and 2-5 in the NJAC while the Gothic Knights fall to 5-6-1 overall, 2-5 in the conference.
Kaelyn Angelucci took a pass from
Skyler Rybacki and hit the back of the net for her second goal of the season to put the Roadrunners up 1-0 in the 51st minute (50:10) of the game. NJCU would tie the game in the 58th minute (57:15) when Mallensey Vargas tallied her 10th goal of the season off a pass form Maria Calle to knot the game 1-1.
Knoblock scored the game-winner in the 70th minute (69:16) when she collected the rebound off her own shot and slipped it past the NJCU keeper to put the Roadrunners up 2-1. The Ramapo defense helped keep NJCU off the board the remainder of the game for the NJAC road win.
Ramapo posted 23 shots in the game to NJCU's eight while the Roadrunners recorded 10-6 on goal. The Roadrunners also held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks in the game.
Elizabeth Harvell recorded five saves for Ramapo while Paula Viana collected eight for the Gothic Knights.
The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to Vassar College on October 20th for a non-conference match-up at 3:30pm.
