Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team defeated NJAC rival Montclair State University 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-19) to remain undefeated in conference action. The Roadrunners improve to 19-3 overall, 5-0 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks fall to 17-3 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
Ramapo extended their win streak with the home victory to 15 straight matches while they snapped the Red Hawks 14-match win streak. The Roadrunners were led by
Larysa Iwaskiw who recorded a match-high 24 kills while
Karina Almeda came up big during games two and three and tallied nine kills of her own. The Roadrunners recorded 18 assisted blocks in the game as
Emily Guzman led the team with seven.
Samantha Main recorded six while
Lena Husslein posted three. Iwaskiw recorded ten digs, one block and one ace while
Kate Shirkey posted a team high 18 assists.
Kristen Behrens tallied 13 digs to lead the team on defense while Almeda added nine digs in the match. Ramapo hit .230 in the match with 39 kills on 122 attempts and 11 errors.
For the Red Hawks, Hayley Merrill posted ten kills and five digs while Courtney Matlock added nine kills and two digs. Natalia Majkut recorded eight kills and four total blocks, including two solo blocks. Ashley Griffith collected a match-high 33 assists while Danielle Olcese posted a match-high 29 digs. April DiAngelo contributed with 13 digs while Griffith added nine of her own. MSU hit .129 in the match with 40 kills on 132 attempts and 23 errors.
The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to NJAC rival Rutgers-Newark University on October 13th for a match beginning at 7pm.
