SELMORE SOLID PERFORMANCE IN TEAM'S 16TH STRAIGHT WIN

Newark, NJ:  It's the 16th straight win for the Ramapo College women's volleyball team as they defeated the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark, 3-1 (25-21, 25-13, 17-25, 25-?) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up on the road.  Behind a solid performance from Rachel Selmore, the Roadrunners improve to 20-3 overall on the season, 6-0 in conference play.  Rutgers Newark falls to 11-9 overall and 2-4 in the NJAC.
 
The Roadrunners grabbed a two set lead over the Scarlet Raiders before Rutgers Newark snapped up set three to close the gap, 2-1.  But with ten kills, three aces and 38 digs, the Roadrunners proved too much for Rutgers Newark taking set four and the match.
 
Selmore dished out 22 assists in the win as Larysa Iwaskiw recorded a team high 19 kills.  Iwaskiw went 19-68 with 13 errors hitting .088 as the team hit a combined 44-168 with 27 errors hitting .101.  Judy Errichetti collected five kills and Emily Guzman contributed five in the win.  Kate Shirkey assisted on 15 points.
 
The team's defense was led by Iwaskiw and Kristen Behrens who picked up 19 and 14 respectively.  Samantha Main put down three solo blocks and Karina Almeda recorded six service aces on the night.  Shirkey added four aces to the win.
 
For the Scarlet Raiders, Karolina Kopacz collected a team leading 15 kills and Tabitha Davis added eight kills as the team went 42-147 with 26 errors hitting .109.  Kathy Hormaza dished out 17 assists and Kopacz added 16, while the defense was led by Sue Riley with 32 digs.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Tuesday, October 18th when they host Rowan University at 7pm at the Bradley Center on the Mahwah campus.
