Gianna Mouskourie scored in a tough 2-1 loss today for the Ramapo College field hockey team to Neumann University. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 2-7 on the year.
The two teams played a scoreless first half until with just 19 seconds left to go, Colleen Hoy scored her second goal of the season off a pass from Julia Mustin to take a 1-0 lead at the buzzer. Neumann out shot Ramapo 8-1 in the half as
Emily Wisneski made four saves in the cage. Caitlyn Johnson went untested in the first 35 minutes of play.
To start the second half, Ramapo tied up the game with a goal from Mouskourie, her third of the season, off a dish from
Meghan Thorn. The goal came under three minutes into the half. But Neumann would again jump ahead with 15:16 left to play as Jessica Harrell ripped a shot that was redirected by Noelle Durham into the cage to take a 2-1 lead. The score would hold until the final buzzer giving Neumann University the 2-1 non-conference win to improve to 8-5 overall on the year.
In the final half, Neumann held a 6-3 advantage in shots while Wisneski made five more saves in the cage. Neumann finished the day with an 11-3 advantage in corners and 14-4 in shots.
Ramapo returns to action on Thursday, October 13th when they host Bryn Mawr at 3:30pm at the Athletic Center.
