Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team blanked visiting Berkeley College today 5-0 at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners improved to 8-2-2 overall while the Knights fell to 7-6 on the year.
The Roadrunners were awarded a penalty kick after being fouled in the box in the 34th minute of the game.
Trevor Albrecht stepped up and scored the eventual game-winning goal on the penalty kick (33:59) to take a 1-0 lead.
Ramapo tallied four more goals, all in the second half. Albrecht scored in in the 60th (59:15) minute for his second goal of the game and a 2-0 lead before
Justin Charkowski tallied his first goal of the season in the 70th minute (69:49). In the 79th minute (78:21),
Justin Olaya posted his fourth goal of the year off a pass from Robert Perez before
Kyle DeGroff tacked on Ramapo's fifth goal in the final 16 seconds of the game (89:44).
Peter Bonilla assisted on DeGroff's goal.
Ramapo held a 17-12 advantage in shots in the game including 13-4 on goal. The Roadrunners posted four corner kicks.
Ryan Sprague earned his fourth shutout of the game working first 82:45 of the game with four saves.
Alejandro Cintron played the final 7:15 of the game and not face a shot on goal.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday when they take on Rutgers-Newark University at the Athletic Center at 3pm.
