Camden, NJ: The Lady Roadrunner women's soccer team dropped a tough, 3-1 decision today to the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers Camden on the road in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 1-7-1 overall and 0-4 in the NJAC while the Scarlet Raptors improve to 4-4-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Despite Ramapo holding an 18-11 advantage in shots for the game, it was the Scarlet Raptors who finished on top as they defeated Ramapo 3-1 in the conference match-up. Aubrey Andrews, off an assist from Kacie Walton, put Rutgers Camden on top in the 8th minute of play before Walton scored one of her own at 22:50 to give the Scarlet Raptors a 2-0 lead, a score that held until the halftime buzzer.
The Roadrunners held a slight 6-5 edge in shots in the first 45 minutes and
Elizabeth Harvell made one save in goal for Ramapo. Katie Gurba made one save for Rutgers Camden.
In the second half, Ramapo's
Amber Hermanns closed the gap to 1-2 off an assist from
Liliann Vizcaino, but it wasn't enough as Kaitlyn Ennis put the Scarlet Raptors ahead, 3-1 to take the game. Harvell added three saves in the second half as her team out shot Rutgers Camden, 12-6. Gurba added three saves of her own in the final half of play.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, October 8th when they host TCNJ at home at 1pm.
