Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw today with the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers Camden University at home in Mahwah. With the New Jersey Athletic Conference tie, Ramapo now stands at 7-1-2 overall and 1-1-2 in the conference. Rutgers Camden stands at 5-2-3 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play.
The two goals of the game came in the first half of play, and the final 75 plus minutes of soccer was scoreless as the two teams played to a 1-1 draw in the New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up on the Mahwah campus.
Sophomore
Ryan Campbell collected his tenth goal of the season to give Ramapo a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute of play and with 14:55 left in the half, Clayton Taylor ripped a ball from 25 yards out just over the head of
Ryan Sprague to knot the game at 1-1. The score remained tied at half time where Rutgers Camden led in shots, 8-6. Rutgers Camden also led in corners at 5-2 and Sprague finished the half with four saves. James Brett blocked three shots for the Scarlet Raptors.
The second half of play went scoreless and ended knotted at 1-1. This half was all Ramapo as they led 13-6 in shots. Corners were even at four. Brett made 11 saves in goal for Rutgers Camden while Sprague made three for the Roadrunners.
In the overtime periods, Rutgers Camden held an advantage in shots at 5-2 and corners at 1-0 but neither team was able capitalize in the end. Sprague collected two saves in the final overtime periods ending the conference match-up with the teams standing at 1-1.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, October 8th when they travel to TCNJ for a 1pm match-up.
