Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's swimming team fell short to the Red Hawks of Montcalir State University, 100-162 today in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up at the Bradley Center. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 5-3 overall and 1-3 in the conference heading into the MET Championships commencing February 19th in New Brunswick.
The Roadrunner 200-yard medley relay team, made up of
Jose Alferez,
RJ Carillo,
Evan Graziano, and
Charlie May took 2nd place in 1:39.22 while
Nicholas Markwell,
Aviad Mana,
Julian Giglio, and
Matt Stenger took 3rd place overall touching the pool side in 1:42.61.
Aspen-Jade Tucker placed 3rd in the 200-yard freestyle clocking in at 1:48.44 and
Peter Kellner placed 4th in the same event in 1:49.73.
Jose Alferez was the first Roadrunner to take home a 1st place ribbon. He clocked in at 54.29 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke for nine points for the team. Stenger placed 4th in the same event for two points in 56.79 seconds. Carillo also earned 1st place in the 100-yard breaststroke. Carillo clocked in at 1:00.52 for nine points as Mana earned three points finishing the same race in 1:05.25.
Jesse Smith placed 3rd in the 200-yard butterfly as he touched the pool side in 2:02.93 and May clocked in at 23 second flat in the 50-yard freestyle earning 2nd place overall. Kellner earned 3rd in the 100-yard freestyle in 50.40 seconds and Alferez placed 1st overall in the 200-yard backstroke for nine points in 1:58.64. In the 200-yard breaststroke, Carillo placed 2nd in 2:15.88 for four points for the Roadrunners while Cella took 3rd in the 500-yard freestyle clocking in at 5:06.19. Graziano earned four points for the Roadrunners when he placed 2nd overall in the 100-yard butterfly while Alferez earned nine points in the 200-yard IM clocking in at 2:03.00. Smith took 2nd in the same event finishing in 2:04.13.
In the final event of the day, Ramapo took home 2nd place in the 400-yard freestyle relay as the combo of Giglio, Kellner, Cella, and Tucker touched the pool side in a combined 3:23.45 for four points for the team.
