Montclair, NJ: The Montclair State University women's basketball team completed the season sweep over Ramapo College today with a 60-33 NJAC conference win. The Red Hawks improve to 13-6 overall and 9-3 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 4-16 overall and 2-11 in the conference.
The Red Hawks jumped out to a 23-2 lead after the first quarter of the game and never looked back en route to their 13th victory of the season. MSU went into the locker room at halftime up 34-10. Both teams scored nine points in the third quarter while MSU outscored Ramapo in the fourth quarter 17-14 for the 60-33 win.
Alexandra Seedes led the Roadrunners with 17 points as she finished the game shooting 4-6 from the three-point line.
Grace Elliott added 11 points, five rebounds and seven blocks. The Roadrunners shot 30% (12-40) from the field, 45% (5-11) from the three-point line and 57% (4-7) from the free throw line.
The Red Hawks were led by Katie Sire who tallied 18 points and ten rebounds for a double double while Yazmine Lacey added ten points. Zoe Curtis added nine points of her own. MSU shot 28% (19-66) from the field, 28% (7-25) from the three-point line and 65% (15-23) from the three-point line. MSU forced 25 Ramapo turnovers leading to 37 points for the Red Hawks.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, February 3rd when they host New Jersey City University in a NJAC conference game at 5:30pm.
