#22 ROWAN TOPS RAMAPO 80-55

Mahwah, NJ:  The #22 Rowan University women's basketball team defeated Ramapo College 80-55 tonight at the Bradley Center. The Profs improve to 16-2 overall, 10-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners fall to 4-14 overall, 2-9 in the conference.
 
The Profs opened up the game on a 6-0 run as they held the Roadrunners to just five points in the first quarter for a 20-5 lead.  Rowan led by as many as 19 in the second quarter 30-11 on a made jumper from Anyssa Sanchez. Ramapo was outscored in the third quarter 20-10 to take a 57-32 lead as they hit back-to-back three pointers to open the third. Kaitlin Schullstrom and Melissa Lake sunk back-to-back three's for the Profs in the first minute of the third quarter. Rowan did not let the Roadrunners come within 23 points of the lead until 21 seconds left in the game when Bintou Berete hit a jumper off a pass from Kelly McNulty. The Profs' Ashley Bird converted on an and-one play for the final points of the game 80-55.
 
The Profs were led by Kate Matthews who posted a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds while Ashanti Bishop scored 14 points while Lake and Schullstrom added 12 and ten points respectively. Rowan shot 50% (32-63) from the field, 46% (6-13) from the three-point line and 58% (10-17) from the free throw line. The Profs forced 25 Ramapo turnovers resulting in 40 points for Rowan.
 
Grace Elliott led the team for Ramapo with 13 points and seven rebounds while Kellie Lane collected 12 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Doris Ilic added eight points and Shelby Ringer chipped in six. Ramapo shot 35% (19-53) from the field, 29% (5-17) from the three-point line and 70% (12-17) from the free throw line.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, January 27th when they travel to NJAC rival Kean University for a game at 6:00pm.
