Wayne, NJ: With two goals senior
Alexa Ragusa lifted the Ramapo College women's soccer team over the Pioneers of William Paterson, 2-1 today in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up on the road.
Ragusa scored the game winning goal with just 33 seconds left in double overtime to push Ramapo to 6-1-1 overall on the year and 1-0-1 in the conference. The Pioneers fall to 2-4-2 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.
Ragusa got the Roadrunners on the board at 27:33 off an assist from
Nicole Ninomiya before the Pioneers tied up the game just four minutes later when Gina Cowdrick pushed a pass to Alondra Diaz who hit the back of the net for her first goal of the season. The remainder of the game went scoreless forcing overtime play.
After a scoreless first overtime period, Ragusa scored the game winner off a shot from the top of the box that deflected in off the post to give the Roadrunners the conference road win with just seconds left to play.
Ramapo out shot the Pioneers 19-6 and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Jessica Cusick made two saves in the full game for Ramapo while William Paterson's Angela Sandelli made seven saves for the Pioneers.
The Roadrunners return to action when they host Rutgers Newark on Wednesday, September 30th at 3pm at the Athletic Center.
