RAMAPO SUFFERS FIRST LOSS OF SEASON

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the 2015 season as New York University defeated the Roadrunners, 2-1. The Violets improve to 6-1 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 5-1-1 overall.

Olivia Braender-Carr put the Violets on the board in the first half in the fourth minute (3:17) of the game, her second goal of the season for a 1-0 score. Ramapo's Gabriella DiLiberto tallied her first goal of the season to tie the game at one in the 18th minute (17:32) after stealing the ball from the keeper and hitting the back of the net.  NYU would come back with the eventual game-winning goal in the 23rd minute (22:28) when Lexi Clarke netted her second goal of the season off a long pass from Sharon Lee to take a 2-1 lead.

Ramapo had their best chance to score to tie the game in the second half when Nicole Ninomiya ripped a shot that the Violets's keeper Cassie Steinberg made a diving save to keep NYU in the lead.  NYU outshot Ramapo 14-7 in the game and 9-4 in shots on goal. They also recorded six corner kicks to Ramapo's one. Steinberg made three saves; all in the second half for NYU while Jessica Cusick tallied seven saves in the loss for the Roadrunners.
