Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team hosted Union College in their 2015 season opener tonight at the Bradley Center. The Lady Roadrunners fell to the Dutchwomen 1-3 (25-17, 20-25, 17-25, 24-26) to open the year at 0-1. Union opens the season at 1-0 overall.
Ally VanDoren led the Dutchwomen with 12 kills on the night while Kelley White added eight kills in the win. Morgan Clark picked up six and Lauren Woods picked up six of her own. The team combined for 42 kills on 152 attempts with 26 errors hitting .105 in the win. Amanda Price dished out 27 assists and Katherine Moeller led the defense with 19 digs.
In game one, 2014 NJAC rookie of the Year,
Larysa Iwaskiw, led Ramapo to a 25-17 win with six kills hitting .385 as the team combined for 11 kills hitting a combined .219.
Kaitlin Mac Iver dished out nine assists and
Emily Harris picked up three digs. For Union, VanDoren and Clark each contributed two kills while Price assisted on five points and Van Doren picked up a team leading four digs. The team combined for seven kills on 25 attempts with six errors hitting .040.
Game two went to Union as they pulled away with a 25-20 win to tie the match at one set a piece. VanDoren put away five kills and the team combined for 13 as they hit .158 in the game two win. Price dished out nine assists and picked up eight digs for the Dutchwomen. Ramapo went 8-41 with six errors as a team hitting a combined .049. Harris again led the defense with five digs and Mac Iver assisted on six points.
The Dutchwomen took a 2-1 set lead after taking game three, 25-17 behind four kills from White. The team combined for 12 kills hitting .206 while Price dished out eight assists. Moeller led the defense with five digs and the Dutchwomen forced ten Ramapo attack errors putting the Roadrunners at -.059 in the loss. Ramapo posted eight kills on 34 attempts. Iwaskiw led with three kills and
Kristen Behrens led the team's defense with seven digs.
Game four went back-to-back in points until a 16-16 tie when Union put together two points (18-16) to force a Ramapo time out. The Roadrunners pushed to 19-19 but a ball handling error put Union on top once again. It would be the Dutchwomen to finish on top as they took game four, 26-24. Woods led Union with three kills and Price added five assists. Lauren Gibson picked up seven digs in the win. Iwaskiw led Ramapo with ten kills as the team went 13-56 with 11 errors. Ramapo hit .036 in the loss. Mac Iver dished out 11 assists and picked up a team leading ten digs.
Iwaskiw finished the night with 22 kills and Mac Iver dished out 31 assists. The team hit a combined 40-163 with 31 errors hitting .055. Harris picked up 19 digs and Mac Iver added 17.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, September 12th when they host a tri-match-up at the Bradley Center with Cairn and Emmanuel. Action starts at 11:00am with the Roadrunners facing off with Cairn.
