Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team improved to 2-1 overall on the year with two non-conference wins today over Cairn University and Emmanuel College.
The Roadrunners defeated Cairn University 3-0 (25-3, 25-8, 25-4) in the opening match this morning at the Bradley Center. Ramapo hit a combined .571 as a team while they recorded 32 kills on 49 attempts with only four errors.
Larysa Iwaskiw led the Roadrunners with seven kills on seven attempts while
Cathryn Smart added six kills on nine attempts with three digs.
Kelly Nichirco added four kills; three aces and four digs while
Emily Harris led the team on defense with nine digs and a perfect passing percentage.
Nicole Herrmann led the team with 18 assists while she added two digs and one solo block.
Whitney Seidel led the Highlanders with three kills while Katelynn Reiss led the team on defense with five digs. Ashley Chamberlin tallied four assists in the match and Abigail Litman posted one kill and one ace.
Emmanuel defeated Cairn (0-4 overall) 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-16) in the second match of the day. Cassie Chruscielski led the Saints with eight kills, three aces and was the team leader with eight digs. Angelica Czercowy added seven kills on 16 attempts. The team hit a combined .256 with 41 kills on 90 attempts and 18 errors. The Highlanders were led by Hailey Sheehan with three kills, one assist, one ace and three digs. Three members of the team recorded seven digs a piece in the match.
Ramapo swept Emmanuel (2-4 overall) in the final match of the afternoon 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-21). Iwaskiw led the Roadrunners with 15 kills, she also added 11 digs and led the team with seven aces. Harris led the team on defense with 17 digs while Kaitlin MacIver dished out a team high 25 assists and also tallied seven digs.
Emily Guzman added eight kills while
Judy Errichetti contributed with six of her own.
Kristen Behrens recorded ten digs in the match while
Natalia Saavedra added one kill, four aces and six digs. The team hit a combined .192 in the match with 42 kills on 125 attempts and 18 errors.
The Saints were led by Czercowy who posted eight kills and two digs while Mary Shelow added six kills and one block. Case Sheehan led the team on defense with 20 digs while Chruscielski added 16 digs of her own. Sarah Schemerhorn led the team with ten assists while she added seven digs and one ace.
The Roadrunners return to action when they host Mount Saint Mary College in a non-conference match on Wednesday, September 16th at 7pm in the Bradley Center.
