Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's tennis team defeated the Hawks of Hunter College, 7-2 today to open up the 2015 season at 1-0 overall.
Ramapo took five of the six singles match-ups with
Carly Agrifolio leading the pack with a 6-4, 6-1 win at first singles. Olivia Funh was the sole point for the Hawks at second singles as she defeated
Tamila Kadyer-Akhunova, 6-0, 6-2.
Emily Biunno posted a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in the final singles spot giving the Roadrunners a 5-1 lead, and the win, heading into doubles play.
Hunter took first singles 8-3 over the Roadrunner pair and
Sara Luby and Kadyer-Akhunova combined efforts at second doubles to take the match-up, 8-1.
Emily Biunno and
Sharon Cherrassky wrapped up the match at third doubles with an 8-1 victory over the Hunter pair.
Ramapo returns to action on September 10th at 4:30pm when they travel to Newark to take on the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark.
