Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team hosted day one of the Roadrunner Invitational tonight where they came out of action with a 1-1 record to stand at 5-2 overall. SUNY Potsdam got two losses on the day to fall to 4-5 overall while Scranton picked up two wins to improve to 12-3 on the year. St. Joe's went 1-1 to stand at 4-5 overall and Ithaca College got two wins to jump ahead to 10-1. New Paltz wrapped up the action with a tough loss to Scranton and a win over Ramapo to stand at 6-6 overall.
Ramapo defeated SUNY Potsdam, 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-13) in the first match of the day on court one.
Larysa Iwaskiw led the Roadrunners (4-1 overall) with 18 kills on 43 attempts while she added four assists, 13 digs and one ace.
Emily Guzman hit .500 in the match with eight kills on 14 attempts to go along with two aces, eight digs and one block.
Kaitlin Mac Iver dished out a team high 32 assists, three aces and nine digs while
Emily Harris posted a team high 21 digs to lead the team on defense.
Rachel Selmore added seven kills while
Amanda Rose collected five kills on 11 attempts to hit .364 in the match. Ramapo tallied 48 kills on 140 attempts to hit .214 as a team. For Potsdam, Rachel Topf led the team with nine kills while Stephanie Maddox added five kills and three digs. Sloane Campbell recorded 22 digs to lead both teams while Brianna Rodda and Maddie Paquin each tallied 14 and 13 digs.
New Paltz took down Ramapo in four games, 3-1 (25-23, 17-25, 25-17, 25-22). They were led by Becca Borquist with 15 kills while Morgan Roeesier added 11 of her own. Maddie Zwickl dished out a team high 34 assists while Rachel Pierson led the team on defense with 19 digs. The team hit .138 in the match with 40 kills on 138 attempts. Ramapo was led by Iwaskiw with 17 kills, five aces, and a match high 24 digs. Guzman added seven kills and two total blocks while Mac Iver dished out a team high 32 assists.
Judy Errichetti recorded seven kills and Harris posted 15 digs and a perfect reception percentage with 29 attempts.
Ithaca defeated New Paltz in the second match of the day on court one 3-2 (25-23, 19-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-13). For the Bombers, Joelle Goldstein recorded 17 kills on 41 attempts to hit .317 in the match. She also tallied 16 digs, once ace and one assist. Katie Evans tallied a .417 hitting percentage in the match with 13 kills while Hailey Adler tallied 12 kills and Caroline Gerulskis added ten kills of her own. Adler also posted 17 digs while Dylan Gawinski-Stern posted 17 digs and six assists. Kayla Gromen dished out a team high 52 assists while she added 11 digs. The team hit .251 in the match with 63 kills on 167 attempts. For New Paltz, Becca Borquist led the team with 22 kills on 49 attempts as she hit .327 in the match while Morgan Roessler hit .500 with 17 kills on 28 attempts. She also tallied one assist, two digs and four total blocks. Katy Braddon posted 16 kills and one solo block. The team hit .313 in the match with 71 kills on 166 attempts.
In other matches of the night on court two, Ithaca defeated St. Joe's-LI, 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-17). Ithaca combined hitting .220 with 37 kills on 91 attempts and 17 errors as Evans led the team with eight kills. Amanda Cerruti added seven and Gromen dished out 25 assists. Gawinski-Stern picked up a team leading 17 digs for her 1,000th dig in her career. For the Golden Eagles, Heather Ferchland led the team with nine kills as the team hit a combined -.045 with 21 kills and 88 attempts with 25 errors. Jenna Beekman led the defense with nine digs and Courtney Wickline dished out 18 assists.
In a match-up with Scranton and Potsdam, it was Scranton that came out on top, 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-16). Rachael Cisto led Scranton with ten kills as the team combined for 37-113 with 17 errors hitting .177. Bailey Woods assisted on 31 points and Danielle Cafiero and Woods led the team's defense with 17 and 14 digs respectively. For Potsdam, the team hit .071 with 27 kills on 112 attempts and 19 errors as Topf led the way with nine kills. Rodda dished out 22 assists and Campbell picked up a team leading 23 digs.
Scranton posted another shut out, this time over St. Joe's-LI as they combined hitting .247 with 37 kills on 89 attempts and 15 errors. Lizzy Zimmermann contributed a team leading eight kills and Cafiero dished out 27 assists. The defense was led by Cafiero's seven digs. The Golden Eagles were led by Ferchland's six kills and Tiffany Willms' six of her own. Wickline assisted on 21 points and Beekman led the team on defense with 12 digs.
The action returns tomorrow morning at 11am when Ramapo takes on Ithaca and Potsdam takes on S. Joe's-LI.
