Madison, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team came away with a 3-2 road win at Drew University this afternoon to extend their win streak at five games. The Roadrunners now stand at 5-0 overall while the Rangers fall to 2-4 on the season.
Senior captain
Nicole Ninomiya put the Roadrunners on the board with two goals in the first eight minutes of play. Sophomore
Nani Vizcaino fed Ninomiya a ball at the 18 yard line before she hit the back of the net with her sixth goal of the season in the second minute of the game (1:50). Ninomiya tallied her second goal in the eighth minute (7:49) of the game for a 2-0 Ramapo lead. Rookie
Michaela Knoblock tallied the game-winning goal in the 42nd minute of play (41:24) when her sister junior
Bryce Knoblock fed her a ball at the top of the box for a 3-0 lead.
Drew tallied their first goal of the game in the 43rd minute (42:46) of play when Caroline Kelly scored off a pass from Danielle Millick.
Ramapo out shot Drew, 9-3 in the first half while neither team recorded a corner kick.
In the second half the Rangers attempted a come back with their second goal of the game in the 58th minute (57:32) when Emma Campbell tallied her second goal of the season unassisted to come within one, 2-3.
Sophomore
Jessica Cusick and the Ramapo defense would hold the Rangers the rest of the game to come away with the victory. The Rangers held a 7-4 advantage in shots in the second half while the Roadrunners posted 13 to the Drew's ten for the game. Cusick recorded three saves in her fifth win of the season for Ramapo.
The Roadrunners return to action when they host Stockton University on Saturday, September 19th at 1pm in a NJAC game.
