Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team fell to Saint Thomas Aquinas College today at the Athletic Center,1-2 to fall to 1-3 overall on the year. STAC gets there first win of the year and improves to 1-4 overall.
The game was tied and it looked like overtime until Carley Davin scored the game winner with just 15 seconds on the clock. The goal was assisted by Jacqueline Dowling to take the game, 2-1.
In the first half,
Nicole Healy got the Roadrunners on the board with a goal just six minutes into the game when
Lauren Grosso slipped a pass to Healy following a corner for Ramapo. The score held until the halftime buzzer where Ramapo recorded 16 shots to the Spartan's three and the Roadrunners held a 12-1 advantage in corners.
In the final half, Angela Rendina tied the game off an assist from Davin at 52:20 and the score held until the final seconds looking like an overtime period would be needed to determine the outcome. But Davin posted the game winner with 15 seconds to play to give her team win number one of the season.
STAC held a 12-4 advantage in shots in the second half and
Emily Kramer made eight saves in net for Ramapo. Nicole Amerling made six saves for STAC in the win.
Ramapo returns to action on Thursday, September 17th when they travel to Manhattanville College for a non-conference game at 7pm.
