RAMAPO FALLS IN NJAC BASEBALL TOURNAMENT

Union, NJ:  The #3 Ramapo College baseball team fell to rival #1 Rutgers-Camden University today at host Kean University 2-1. The Roadrunners stand at 26-14 overall while the Scarlet Raptors improve to 22-16 overall.
 
Ramapo scored their lone run in the top of the third inning. Rafael Dela Cruz led off with a single before he moved up one base on a sac and single respectively. Rob DeAngelis then ripped a single through the left side of the infield plating Dela Cruz for a 1-0 lead.
 
The Scarlet Raptors plated one run in the sixth to tie the game before they scored the eventual game winning run in the seventh. In the sixth, Brett Tenuto tripled to lead off the inning before he came home on an infield error to tie the game 1-1. In the seventh, Connor Hall walked before Teunuto plated him with a sac fly to center field for a 2-1 lead.
 
Ramapo could not push across another run to extend the game as the Scarlet Raptors advanced in the NJAC Tournament. Scarlet Raptor starting pitcher Ryan Sullivan held the Roadrunners to only four hit in seven innings of work. He struck out three in the win while walking two. Jeff Singler worked the final two innings striking out two in his second save of the season.
 
Ramapo starting pitcher Walker Larson (8-2) scattered seven hits in the complete game. He struck out six and walked two.
 
The Roadrunners who are ranked sixth in the most recent NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings will now wait to see if they earned an at-large bid to the upcoming NCAA Tournament which is announced Monday, May 11th.
