MARTIN EARNS 600TH CAREER COACHING VICTORY IN 3-2 WIN

Mahwah, NJ:  Ramapo College baseball coach Rich Martin earned his 600th career coaching victory this afternoon with a come from behind win over Baruch College 3-2. The Roadrunners improve to 21-11 overall while the Bearcats fall to 10-17 on the year.
 
Baruch put two runs on the board in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead before Ramapo came back to win the game in the bottom of the ninth. In the second, Zachary Uher drove home Nicholas LaForgia with a single up the middle before Donovan Hunt came home on Jesus Ozuna-Perez's sac foul-out to right field for the two run lead.
 
The Roadrunners kept the Bearcats off the board the remainder of the game including two plays at the plate on defense allowing for the come from behind, walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth. With one out in the bottom of the ninth, the Roadrunners got three straight pinch-hits. Scott Shields singled before Cosmo Iacobellis ripped a double down the right field line allowing Shields to get to third before Peschiani drove home Shields with a hard hit single to left field. Matt Chemis then drove a 2-2 pitch past the diving shortstop into left field allowing Iacobellis to score the game tying run 2-2. Following a walk to Joe Venturino to load the bases; Brandon Berger worked a two-out full-count bases loaded walk to score the game winning run in Peschiani for the 3-2 win.
 
Ramapo starting pitcher John Doherty worked the first 5.2 innings of the game, earning a no-decision. Doherty struck out three, walked two and scattered four hits. Mark Doyle earned the win in 3.1 innings of relief. He struck out three, walked two and surrendered only one hit. Chemis and Venturino each posted two hits in the game while five other Roadrunners collected one hit apiece.  
 
Coach Martin earns his 600th career coaching victory that has spanned 27 seasons. Martin has been at Ramapo College for 15 of those seasons, earning 355 of those wins as a Roadrunner. Congratulations Coach Martin!!
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, April 21st at 3:30 pm when they take on the University of Scranton in a non-conference game.
