Albany, NY: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team, behind five goals from
Lindsay Hughes, earned a 21-12 victory today over the Sage Colleges on the road. With the win the Roadrunners improve to 5-6 overall. Sages falls to 1-10.
Hughes collected five goals and
Victoria Cunningham added four as
Jessica Meyers played the full 60 minutes in goal posting the win with nine saves.
Ramapo took a 3-0 lead with goals from
Alyssa Tachon (2) and
Alexandra Tray just over five minutes into the game before a goal from Monica Koralus closed the gap to 3-1. Ramapo would connect three straight goals to go ahead 6-1 with 19:40 to play in the half with goals coming from
Marisa Ference, Hughes, and
Colleen Manley. With Ramapo leading 7-3, the Roadrunners would string together five goals to jump ahead 12-3. The run was sparked by two goals from Cunningham and capped off with Cunningham's fourth goal of the game. The two teams would each net three goals in the remiander of the half heading into halftime with Ramapo on top, 15-6.
The Roadrunners out shot Sage 28-12 in the half as Meyers collected six saves in the first 30 minutes of play. Jackie St. Pierre made eight saves for Sage in the period.
Ramapo would strike first at the start of the second half with three straight goals coming from
Beth McGraw, Manley, and
Emily O'Donnell, before Sage answered with three straight of their own to come within nine, 9-18. The Roadrunners proved to be too much for Sage as they matched Sage's final three goals to close out the game with the 21-12 win.
Meyers added three more saves in the second half as Ramapo again out shot the Gators, 15-11. St. Pierre made an additional eight saves in the half for 16 total in the loss.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, April 18th when they host NJAC rival Rowan University at 1pm in Mahwah.
