LADY ROADRUNNERS GET WIN OVER OLD WESTBURY

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team defeated SUNY Old Westbury this afternoon, 16-14 to improve to 4-5 overall on the year. With the loss the Panthers fall to 2-7 overall.  

The Roadrunners quickly jumped to a 2-0 lead with back-to-back goals from Lindsey Hughes and Beth McGraw before the Panthers got on the board with 25:59 to play when they scored five straight goals, four off free position shots, to take the lead, 5-2.  Alyssa Tachon and Hughes scored exactly one minute apart to close the gap, 4-5.  The Panthers netted two more goals in the half, while the Roadrunners tallied three, heading into the break tied, 7-7.

The Roadrunners out shot the Panthers, 17-10 in the period as Monica Bubello had three saves.  Ashley Gugliuzzo recorded six saves for Old Westbury.

Gabriella DiPierno and Taylor Guarneri gave Old Westbury the lead within the first two minutes of the final period, 9-7.  The Roadrunners then scored three in a row, two from Hughes and one from McGraw, in less than two and a half minutes of play to take the lead, 10-9.  The two teams would trade goals until Hughes would score what would be the winning goal at 3:43 left to play to jump ahead 15-13.  Alexandra Tray tallied one more for the Roadrunners to close out the game, 16-14.  

In the second half, the Roadrunners kept on top of the Panthers posting a 24-12 advantage in shots.  Jessica Meyers had four saves in the period and let up seven goals for the Roadrunners.  Gugliuzzo recorded 11 additional saves.  

Hughes led the Roadrunners with seven goals in the game and one assist and Alyssa Tachon recorded four goals and one assist.  

The Roadrunners return to action Tuesday, April 14th when they travel to Montclair State University for a NJAC match-up at 7pm.
