Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-12, 25-7, 25-13) sweep over the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University in their first match of the day, before defeating Mt. St. Vincent (25-18, 25-18, 25-20) in the Skyline Conference tri-match-up at the Bradley Center. In the middle match of the day, Mt. St. Vincent defeated NJCU, 3-1 (25-12, 19-25, 25-19, 25-19). With the two wins, Ramapo improves to 10-10 overall and 5-1 in the Skyline Conference. MSV falls to 10-6 overall and 5-3 in the conference, while NJCU falls to 10-7 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
Rookie
Justin Feigeles led the Roadrunners with nine kills and
Ryan Casci collected seven, as the team hit a combined 35-61 with just nine errors hitting .426.
Marinus Tavernier added five kills and
Peter Desvousges picked up four, as
Alec Weissman dished out a team leading 18 assists. Ramapo's defense was led by
Kurt MacDonald who collected 12 digs.
The Roadrunners dominated the first game opening to an 11-0 start in the first game. Ramapo hit .423 as a team earning the 25-12 game one win. Feigeles led the Roadrunners with five kills and
Ryan Casci added four, as Weissman dished out ten assists in the win. MacDonald picked up seven digs. For NJCU, Bill Le and Daque Wilcox were the only two Gothic Knights who picked up kills with two each as the team hit -.111. Eric Maldonado dished out three assists and Le picked up three digs.
Ramapo dominated again in game two taking the set, 25-7 behind four kills from Feigeles and a team hitting performance of .625. Casci added three kills and Weissman dished out eight assists. MacDonald picked up a team leading three digs. NJCU hit -.222 with Wilcox getting the team's lone two kills.
In the final set the Roadrunners earned the match sweep downing NJCU, 25-13. The Roadrunners hit a combined .263 with three kills from
Patrick Wixted.
Garrett Fitzsimmons dished out seven assists and
Connor Brandow and MacDonald each picked up two digs. NJCU went 5-25 with ten errors hitting -.200. Wilcox collected a team leading two kills and Le picked up three digs.
NJCU was led by Wilcox with six kills as the team went 11-70 with 23 errors hitting -.171 in the loss. Maldonado dished out seven assists and Le picked up a team leading six digs.
In the second match of the day, Mt. St. Vincent took game one, 25-12 behind five kills from Brett Holiday and four kills from Marc Barreda. The team combined hitting .250 with 14 kills on 28 attempts and seven errors. James DiGiovanni dished out ten assists and picked up a team leading three digs. NJCU hit -.105 in the loss as Maldonado dished out five assists.
Game two went to NJCU, 25-19 as the team combined hitting .200. Le collected three kills and Maldonado dished out eight assists as Kendall Tribbett picked up a team leading three digs. MSV was led by Tyler Cucullu who put away six kills. The team hit -.067 with ten kills and 12 errors on 30 attempts. DiGiovanni picked up five digs.
MSV took the lead again with a game three 25-19 win. Holiday and Cucullu led the way with five and three kills respectively as the team combined for 12 total kills. Logan Dickover dished out ten assists in the win. NJCU was led by Le with three kills and the team put away a collective nine. Maldonado assisted on seven points as Wilcox led the defense with four digs.
Cucullu led MSV in the fourth set where his team came out on top, 25-19 to take the match. MSV hit a combined .156 with 12 kills as Dickover assisted on ten points. Holiday collected a team leading five digs. NJCU was led by Sheldon Coure with five kills and Tribbett picked up three digs.
In the win, MSV collected 48 kills as a team with Cucullu leading the way with 17 kills. Holiday added 13 of his own as Dickover dished out a team leading 20 assists. DiGiovanni picked up eight digs and Cucullu added eight digs of his own. MSV hit a combined .129 on the day.
NJCU was led by Coure with ten kills and Wilcox with eight. The team went 31-108 with 23 errors hitting .074. Maldonado collected 28 assists and the defense was led by Wilcox and Tribbett with nine digs each. NJCU collected 17 team blocks to MSV's 7.5.
In the final match-up of the day it was Ramapo who came out with a win over Mt. St. Vincent. Feigeles finished the day with a team leading 12 kills and Tavernier collected 11, as the team hit .341 combining for 43 kills on 82 attempts with 15 errors. Weissman finished the day with 38 assists and MacDonald led the defense with 13 digs.
In game one, the Roadrunners defeated MSV, 25-18 to jump ahead 1-0 in the match-up. The team was led by Feigeles who collected seven kills and Tavernier with four. The team went 17-30 with just five errors hitting .400. Weissman dished out 15 assists and MacDonald picked up four digs on defense. Marc Barreda led MSV with four kills as the team hit .172 with ten kill on 29 attempts and five errors. DiGiovanni assisted on nine points and led the defense with two digs.
Ramapo pushed ahead two sets to none with a 25-18 win in game two. Tavernier led the team with five kills and Feigeles added four as the team combined for 15 kills hitting .333 with just six errors on 27 attempts. Weissman again led the team with 13 assists and MacDonald picked up four digs. Cucullu led MSV with three kills. The team hit .118 going 5-17 with three errors. DiGiovanni collected four assists and Cucullu picked up two digs.
The final game went to Ramapo, 25-20 behind two kills each from Tavernier,
Matt Goldberg, and
Jake Matreale. The team hit 11-25 with four errors going .280 while Weissman added ten more assists in the win. Weissman and Feigeles each picked up two digs. Cucullu led MSV with two kills as the team went 5-20 with eight errors hitting -.150.
In the loss, Cucullu and Barreda each recorded six kills. The team hit .061 with 20 toal kills on 66 attempts with 16 errors. DiGiovanni dished out 13 assists and Cucullu led the defense with five digs.
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, March 10th when they host Hunter College at 7pm at the Bradley Center in a non-conference match-up.
