HUGHES BECOMES ALL-TIME LEADING SCORER AS RAMAPO DOWNS VALIANTS

Mahwah, NJ:  Junior Lindsay Hughes became Ramapo's all-time leading scorer today as the Ramapo College women's lacrosse team defeated non-conference rival Manhattanville, 18-11 at the Athletic Center.  With the win the Roadrunners improve to .500 at 2-2 overall, while Manhattanville falls to 3-3.
 
Hughes scored eight goals in the team's win which was just enough to make her the all-time career leader in goal's in Ramapo College's history.  With her eighth goal of the day she became the leader with 160 total goals in her three-year collegiate career. 
 
The Roadrunners quickly jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, three goals from Hughes, before the Valiants finally got on the board with 19:54 left to play in the half.  Sarah Dalsey scored four straight for Manhattanville to close the gap, 4-6.  Hughes would score again at 13:00 flat before Manahattanville's AnnMarie Nardone would strike to put the Valiants within two, 5-7.  Both teams would net two goals in the reminder of the half to head into the break with Ramapo leading 9-7.  Hughes scored the final goal of the period.
 
Ramapo out shot the Valiants, 20-12 in the period as Tara Ward made no saves and let up five goals in the first 22-plus minutes of the half.  Lauren Cassidy made six saves in the half and let up all nine goals for Manhattanville.
 
In the final period, Nardone led off the scoring to put Manhattanville within one, 8-9, but Colleen Manley and two goals from Hughes would push the Roadrunners on top, 12-8 with just under 28 minutes to play.  The two teams would trade goals until 15:42 when a goal from Victoria Cunningham would spark a 4-0 run to put Ramapo ahead 17-10 with 4:40 to play. Hughes' record goal came with 6:15 to go in the game.  Each team scored a goal in the final minutes leaving Ramapo with the 18-11 win at home.
 
Manhattanville held a slight edge in shots in the second half, 16-15, while Jessica Meyers made five saves in the goal for Ramapo.  Cassidy finished the game with an additional two saves in the half.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on March 31st when they travel to FDU-Florham for a 7pm match-up.
