Patchogue, NY: The Ramapo College baseball team fell to St. Joseph's LI today 5-2 at Alfano Field. The Roadrunners now stand at 8-5 overall while the Golden Eagles improve to 4-7.
Ramapo scored a pair of runs in the top of the third inning to take a 2-0 lead. With two outs in the inning and runners on first and second,
Scott Peschiani laced a double to right centerfield.
Brandon Berger and
Joe Venturino came around to score for the Roadrunners.
St. Joseph's LI came back to score one run in the bottom half of the inning and took the lead in fourth with three runs to take a 4-2 lead. The Golden Eagles scored an insurance run in the eighth inning, extending their lead 5-2.
Jerry D'Andrea fell to 1-1 for Ramapo as he worked the first 3.1 innings, striking out three and walking four while giving up three runs.
Tyler Curto struck out five and walked two in four innings of relief while
Kyle Doerr recorded the final two outs of the eighth. He struck out one and walked one. Venturino finished the game 2-4 with one run scored while Peschiani was 1-3 with two RBI. Four other Roadrunners each collected one hit.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Drew University for a non-conference game beginning at 3:30pm.
