Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team dropped a non-conference match-up today to the Rangers of Drew University, 8-6 on the road. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 8-6 on the year while Drew improves to 5-8.
The Roadrunners fell behind 7-1 after the first five innings of the game, before a sac fly from
Scott Shields brought home
Scott Peschiani, who walked to lead off the inning, and
Jared Ensmenger drove in two with a single to center field to close the gap, 4-7.
Chris Werr and
Evan Ochlan scored on the play. In the bottom of the inning, Drew would tack on an additional run, and a final attempt came from Ramapo in the top of the 8th when two more runs crossed the plate. Shields drove in one run and Rinsky brought in one of his own on a double to left field to come within two, but it wasn't enough as the Rangers got the win over Ramapo in the non-conference match-up.
Connor Walsh and
Rafael Dela Cruz scored for Ramapo in the 8th.
Mike Miraglia hit 3-4 for Drew with one run and one RBI, while Bobby Miskura hit 3-5 with two runs and one RBI. Steve Kowalski hit 2-4 with two runs and Robert Auletti scored two runs of his own. Leo Ruiz gets the win improving to 1-0. He pitched five innings letting up three hits and one run, striking out none.
Rinsky hit a perfect 2-2 for the Roadrunners as Shields drove in two runs. Ensmenger also drove in two runs on the day while hitting 1-1 in the loss.
Mark Doyle got the loss for the Roadrunners in 3.1 innings pitched. He let up five hits and five runs while walking two.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, March 28th when they open the 2015 NJAC season with a double-header match-up with NJCU at 11:30am on the road.
