Rochester, NY: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team won their first match-up at the 2015 Nazareth College Tournament, 3-1 (25-27, 25-23, 25-13, 25-17) over Hilbert, before falling to Elmira, 0-3 (14-25, 16-25, 17-25). With the one victory and one loss, the Roadrunners now stand at 3-3 overall heading into tomorrow's match-ups with host Nazareth and UC Santa Cruz.
The Roadrunners hit .308 as a team in their first match-up of the night, behind a .345 hitting performance from
Connor Brandow. He collected 15 kills on 29 attempts with just five errors.
Matt Goldberg added 11 kills and
Marinus Tavernier added ten, as
Garrett Fitzsimmons chipped in nine kills in the win.
Justin Feigeles dished out a team-high 51 assists and
Peter Desvousges and
Kurt MacDonald led the team's defense with 12 and ten digs respectively. The Roadrunners collected nine team blocks on the night with 58 kills on offense.
In their second match-up of the evening, the Roadrunners were swept by Elmira, 0-3. The team hit -.059 with just 16 kills on 68 attempts with 20 errors. Fitzsimmons recorded a team leading eight kills and Feigeles dished out ten assists and picked up a team leading five digs.
Ramapo will take on Nazareth tomorrow at 1pm, followed by UC Santa Cruz at 5pm.
