Jersey City, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team fell to NJAC rival New Jersey City University tonight at the John J. Moore Athletic Center 87-73. The Gothic Knights improve to 6-2 overall, 4-0 in the NJAC with their sixth straight win while the Roadrunners see their three game win streak snapped and now stand at 6-3 overall, 3-1 in the conference.
NJCU had four players score in double figures in the game while the team went 11-23 from the three-point line. The NJCU defense also forced 20 Ramapo turnovers, which resulted in 30 points for the Gothic Knights. Chinew Wosu led all players with 24 points and 18 rebounds including three assists and two steals, he shot 11-19 from the floor in the game. Jalen Harris posted 19 points and nine rebounds and James Julius added 12 points and four assists and Yuri Brutus finished with 11 points. The team shot 47% (34-72) in the game, 47% (11-23) from the three-point line and 8-18 (44%) from the foul line.
For the Roadrunners,
Christopher Moseley posted his third double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds. He also led the team with three assists, three blocks and four steals.
Frank Nock led the team with 19 points while he added five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Thomas Bonacum recorded 18 points and seven rebounds. The Ramapo defense caused 21 NJCU turnovers in the game, which resulted in 18 points for the Roadrunners. Ramapo shot 39% (25-64) from the field, 30% (4-13) from the three-point line and 63% (19-30) from the foul line.
NJCU took a 13 points lead into the locker room up 40-27 after the first half. Ramapo shrunk the NJCU lead to eight in the first two minutes of the second half but the Gothic Knights extended their lead by as many as 19 points with nine minutes to play in the game 67-48. The Roadrunners then went on a 10-1 run cutting the NJCU lead to ten 68-58 with seven minutes remaining. That is as close as the Roadrunners would get in the game as NJCU came away with a 14-point home victory.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, December 12 when they travel to NJAC rival Rowan University for a game at 3pm.
