PROFS TAKE DOWN RAMAPO MEN; NOCK NETS 1,000TH CAREER POINT

Glassboro, NJ:   With five players scoring in double-digit figures, the Rowan University men's basketball team defeated the Ramapo College Roadrunners, 100-89 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up on the road today.  Ramapo falls to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in the NJAC while the Profs improve to 3-8 overall with a 1-4 conference mark.
 
Shawn Wilson produced a game-high 24 points and grabbed six rebounds and Nick DePersia contributed with 18 points, seven boards and seven assists in the win while Rob DePersia and Chris Gross added 15 and 14 points respectively.   Kris O'Connor contributed ten points to the win while grabbing five rebounds and five assists. The Profs combined hitting 34-73 (47%) and forced 22 Ramapo turnovers posting their first conference win of the season.
 
For Ramapo, Frank Nock led the team totaling 22 points, which included his 1,000th career point.  He is the 19th men's player at Ramapo to reach the mark. Thomas Bonacum recorded a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Christopher Moseley scored 13 points and Josh Ford and Saint-Simeon Beaubrun each contributed ten points and six rebounds. Ramapo hit 32-64 (50%) in the loss.
 
Just over seven minutes into the first half, the Profs pushed ahead to a 12-point (22-10) lead after a three-pointer by  Gary Carthan and Rob DePersia made a layup at 10:38 to go ahead 28-14.  The Roadrunners cut the deficit to seven points (28-21) after a basket from Ford with just over ten minutes to play, a layup from Moseley at 9:45 and a three-point play from Jermaine Peart at 9:23.  Wilson sank two foul shots with 5:48 left and the Profs pushed ahead 37-26.  Nock put away a layup at 2:51 but Rowan sank four straight baskets to end the half with an 18 point lead (49-31) over Ramapo. 
 
The Profs pushed to a 19-point (63-44) advantage with 14:40 remaining in the second half and scored 11 consecutive points to lead 74-44 with 12:23 left in the game.  Wilson had a layup at 7:02 for a 22-point advantage (86-64) but Ramapo answered with a 10-1 run to come within 13, 87-74 with 3:35 on the clock.  Bonacum scored a layup at the 1:33 mark and the Roadrunners were within nine points (91-82,) but Nick DePersia sank a two-point goal at 1:08 to put Rowan on top, 95-84.  Nock hit two free throws with less than a minute to play to come within nine, 95-86, but Rowan out lasted Ramapo to take the game, 100-89.

The Roadrunners will return to action on December 28th when they travel to the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas where they take on Skidmore College at 6pm in their opening match-up.
