Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team dropped a tough 57-73 match-up tonight to Penn State Harrisburg in their first round match-up of the 2015 Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament held tonight in Mahwah. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 0-3 overall and will face off with the College of St. Elizabeth tomorrow in the consolation match-up at noon. Penn State Harrisburg will take on Old Westbury for the championship crown at 2pm after defeating St. Elizabeth 87-78 in the opening round of tournament play.
Ramapo shot 25% (15-58) from the field as they were led by
Kellie Lane with 18 points while
Jina Crawford tallied 11 points of her own. The Roadrunners shot 33% from beyond the three-point line and 75% (21-28) from the foul line in the game.
Alyson Oostdyk grabbed a team leading 11 rebounds while she added four assists and two points. The Roadrunners caused 22 Lion turnovers that resulted in 16 points for Ramapo.
The Lions were led by Kiara Carter and Brittany Ulrich who each tallied 14 points while Carter recorded a double double with 12 rebounds. Yolanna Snypse added 11 rebounds and eight points while Kaitlin Carmo collected seven points. Penn State out rebounded the Roadrunners 46-37 while they shot 40% (23-57) from the field in the game. The Lions shot 30% (6-20) from beyond the three-point line and 77% (21-27) from the charity stripe.
In the first game of the night, Old Westbury (1-0) hit 35-87 (40%) from the floor and was led by 21 points and 14 rebounds from Crystal Barnes who shot 8-18 from the floor and 5-6 from the charity stripe. Jasmine Robinson collected 18 points and Raven Pentz added 12 as she dished out a team leading eight assists in the win. Robinson also grabbed nine steals as Old Westbury ran away with the victory to advance to the championship game of the tournament. St. Elizabeth's (0-1) Deja Ingram led the team as she put away 16 points and 13 rebounds in the loss. Ashley Pledger collected 18 points as the team went 26-75 (35%) on the night.
