PIONEERS DOWN RAMAPO, 4-2

Mahwah, NJ: In a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up in Mahwah, the Ramapo College field hockey team posted a 4-2 loss to the Pioneers of William Paterson University to fall to 1-10 overall and 0-2 in conference play.  The Pioneers improve to 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the NJAC.

Nicole Healy got Ramapo on the board in the 13th minute when she ripped a shot past the William Paterson goaltender off a cross from Melissa Choka but the Pioneers quickly responded at 18:29 when Mollie Kearns connected with Carly Satter to knot the game at 1-1.  It wasn't long before WPU took the lead with a goal from Meghin Stanton, her first of the year, off an assist from Elizabeth Kerr at 19:55.  The Pioneers would go up, 3-1 heading into the half with another goal, this time from leading scorer Angelica Giammetta off an assist from Maureen Gill.

The Pioneers held a 9-2 advantage in shots in the half while Emily Kramer made four saves in the cage.  Meg Davies went untested for WPU in the first half of play.  The Pioneers also earned six corners to Ramapo's one.

In the final half of play, the Pioneers struck again with a goal from McKenna Reynolds before Ramapo's Christina Bacino closed the gap to 2-4 at 41:05.  Satter earned the assist on Reynold's goal.  The score would hold until the final buzzer where the Pioneer's earned the 4-2 conference win.

WPU again held an advantage in shots, this time 7-6, and Ramapo's Emily Wisneski posted four saves in the cage in the final half of play.  Davies posted five saves in the second half.

Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, October 10th when they host Rowan University at 1pm.
