Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team dropped a tough match-up to the Profs of Rowan University, 1-5 today to fall to 1-11 overall on the year and 0-3 in conference play. Rowan gets their seventh (7-4) win of the year and second (2-0) in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
The Profs jumped out to a 1-0 lead when senior Sam Browne posted her eighth goal of the year to jump ahead as the team's leading scorer. The goal was assisted by Jenna Pressler off a corner at 15:58. The score remained until the halftime buzzer where Rowan held a 20-0 advantage in shots and Carly DeMarco went untested in the cage. Ramapo's
Emily Wisneski made 13 saves of her own.
In the opening minutes of the second half, Browne struck again at 38 flat off an assist from Rachel Galante, before Galante dished another ball to Pressler to go ahead, 3-0. In the 44th minute, Johana James ripped a ball past the Ramapo netminder to put Rowan on top four goals to none off an assist from Browne and Erica Faraone contributed to the game with a goal of her own off an assist from Nikki Kotelnicki at 51:25 for a 5-0 Prof lead. Gianna Mouskourie pushed the ball to
Lauren Grosso putting Ramapo on the board, but it wasn't enough as the Profs held Ramapo in the final minutes to take the game, 5-1. Rowan again out shot Ramapo, 10-2 and Wisneski picked up five more saves in the final half.
The Roadrunners return to action on October 13th when they travel to The College of New Jersey for a 7:30pm match-up.
