Oneonta, NY: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team went 2-0 on Saturday afternoon and were crowned 2015 Dig Pink Invitational Champions. The Roadrunners defeated Bard College 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-19) before they took Ithaca College 3-0 (26-24, 27-25, 25-18).
Ramapo now stands at 18-7 overall heading into the opening round of the NJAC Women's Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday night. The Roadrunners will host #5 Rowan University at the Bradley Center at 7pm.
Sophomore
Larysa Iwaskiw became the first women's volleyball player at Ramapo to collect her 1,000th career kill. She did so in the final match of the weekend against Ithaca. She now has 1,021 career kills. Iwaskiw led the Roadrunners this weekend earning All-Tournament team honors.
Against Bard, Iwaskiw led the team with 15 kills and 16 digs while she added three aces. Junior
Rachel Selmore added six kills; hitting .357 in the match while junior
Emily Guzman added five kills and three total blocks. Senior
Kaitlin Mac Iver dished out 31 assists while sophomore
Sarah Mulligan posted 14 digs on defense. Senior
Emily Harris added ten digs and one ace. The team hit .253 in the match with 34 kills on 95 attempts and ten errors.
Ramapo got some pay back in their win over Ithaca as the Bombers defeated Ramapo 3-0 earlier in the season. Iwaskiw once again led the Roadrunners with 22 kills, including her first of the match her record-breaking 1,000th career kill. She also led the team with 17 digs. Selmore and Guzman tallied seven and six kills respectively while senior
Cathryn Smart led the team with three blocks. Mac Iver dished out 37 assists while rookie
Kristen Behrens and junior
Natalia Saavedra each recorded 12 digs on defense. The team hit .188 in the match with 39 kills on 133 attempts with 14 errors. Ramapo also tallied ten aces and five total blocks.
