Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team picked up two wins today at the Ramapo College Invitational to improve to 12-5 overall. SUNY Cortland ended the day 8-12 overall while Hunter College finished 8-9 overall and Brooklyn College is now 5-12 overall.
Ramapo defeated Brooklyn College on court one in the first match of the day 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-15).
Larysa Iwaskiw led the Roadrunners with 17 kills, three aces and 15 digs.
Cathryn Smart added eight kills while
Rachel Selmore collected six kills of her own. Selmore recorded two aces and three digs while
Kaitlin Mac Iver dished out a team high 30 assists, she also added two aces and seven digs.
Kristen Behrens recorded two aces and nine digs.
For the Bulldogs, Christolia Butler and Francesca LoCascio each collected three kills. Crystal Wu dished out 11 assists while she also led the team in digs with nine.
The Roadrunners defeated Cortland 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-10) in their second match of the day. Iwaskiw once again led the team with 14 kills, two assists and a team high 19 digs. Selmore added ten kills while
Emily Guzman added nine kills. Kelly Nichiro hit .455 with six kills on 11 attempts and only one error. Mac Iver dished out a team high 33 assists while
Kristen Behrens collected 13 digs and
Emily Harris added 10 digs on her own. Ramapo hit .279 in the match with 43 kills on 111 attempts.
Cortland was led by Janine Patora who collected nine kills while Liz Roberts dished out 20 assists. Melanie McGuirk recorded 15 digs while Samantha Czeczotka added 13 digs on defense.
On court two, SUNY Cortland battled in a three-set win over Hunter College 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-12). Cortland was led by Patora with 13 kills as she hit .357 in the match. Czeczotka and Tracy Singleton added eight kills each while Liz Roberts dished out a team high 30 assists. Czeczotka led the team on defense with 11 digs.
Hunter's Taylor Kerr-Haiduk recorded eight kills while Miranda Hogan dished out 19 assists. Angelica May Aquino led the team with 15 digs and Haley Trunkett added 12 of her own.
Hunter defeated Brooklyn 3-0 (25-8, 25-16, 25-8) in their second match of the day. The Hawks were led by Kerr-Haiduk with 11 kills while Aquino recorded nine. Brooklyn was led by Sasha Roopchand with four kills.
Ramapo returns to action on October 6th when they host NJAC rival Kean University at 7pm.
