Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO #9 MONTCLAIR

Mahwah,NJ:  In their final home game of the season, the Ramapo College men's soccer team fell just short to the #9 ranked Red Hawks of Montclair State, 1-2.  After falling behind, 2-0, the Roadrunners fought to tally a goal of their own and close the gap, but it wasn't enough as the Red Hawks took the game to improve to 16-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play.  Ramapo falls to 1-6-1 in the NJAC.

Montclair's Kyle Goodwin got the scoring going with his seventh goal of the season off a cross from
Damian Bziukiewicz in the 37th minute.  The one goal advantage held until the halftime buzzer where the Roadrunners held an edge in shots at 8-7.  Ryan Sprague made three saves in goal for the Roadrunners and Mike Saalfrank made three of his own for the Red Hawks.

Goodwin tacked on a second goal in the game at 72:21 to put Montclair up 2-1, but just 34 seconds later, Ramapo's Ryan Campbell would rip a shot past Saalfrank to close the gap 2-1 and put pressure on the Red Hawks defense.  Despite an offensive spark from Ramapo's goal and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks in the final period, it was the Red Hawks who surpassed the Roadrunners in the NJAC match-up.  Ramapo was held to just two shots in the final half with Montclair collecting 12.  Sprague made six saves and Saalfrank was tested on one occasion.

Ramapo's final game of the season will take place on Wednesday, October 28th when they travel to the #12 ranked Cougars of Kean University for a 7:30pm match-up.
