Danbury, CT: The Ramapo College men's soccer team dropped a non-conference match-up to Western Connecticut on the road tonight, 1-2. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 7-8-2 overall. Western Connecticut gets their fifth win of the year to improve to 5-7-2.
In the first half of play, rookie
Ryan Campbell ripped a shot past goaltender Luca DiCarlo to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 advantage, a score that held until the halftime buzzer. The Roadrunners controlled most of the offensive game where they held a 12-3 advantage in shots in the half.
Ryan Sprague went untested in the net for Ramapo. DiCarlo made four saves for Western Connecticut.
Western Connecticut came out on fire at the start of the second half scoring two quick goals at 46:06 and 48:06. Chris Jeffrey posted the first off an assist from Shane Pugliese before Chauncey Allers collected the go ahead goal off a dish from Lucan Saunders. Ramapo collected 11 shots to WCONN's eight in the final period but were unable to capitalized taking the one goal, 1-2 loss on the road.
Ramapo finished the night with a 23-11 advantage in shots and Sprague made just two saves for the Roadrunners.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 24th when they host Montclair State at the Athletic Center at 1pm.
