Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball defeated non-conference rival Hunter College tonight 3-1 (25-20, 25-16, 22-25, 25-14) at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners improve to 10-5 overall while the Hawks drop to 7-8 overall.
Larysa Iwaskiw led both teams with 22 kills while she added a team high 19 digs in the match.
Kelly Nichirco and
Rachel Selmore each recorded eight kills a piece in the match while Nichirco hit .300 to lead the team. Selmore added 11 digs and one solo block.
Cathryn Smart contributed with seven kills and four total blocks including one solo block.
Kaitlin Mac Iver dished out a match high 40 assists and 13 digs while
Kristen Behrens added 14 digs of her own.
Natalia Saavedra and
Emily Harris each recorded ten digs in the match.
For Hunter, Julia Connolly recorded 11 kills to lead the team while Taylor Kerr-Haiduk added six kills. Marnie Kotlyar recorded five kill while Haley Trunkett led the team on defense with 19 digs while Angelica Mae Aquino and Connolly each posted 12 digs in the match.
On court two, SUNY Cortland defeated Brooklyn College 3-0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-8). Samantha Czeczotka led the team with 10 kills as she hit .600 in the match with six digs. Liz Roberts dished out a team high 24 assists while Janine Patora, Alexandra Graff and Melanie McGuirk all collected ten digs in the match.
For Brooklyn, Francesca LoCascio collected seven kills in the game to lead the team. Crystal Wu led the team with nine digs and ten assists.
All four teams return to action tomorrow in the Ramapo Invitational. Ramapo takes on Brooklyn at 11am on court one while Cortland and Hunter square off on court two.
