Ewing, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team lost a tough battle to the #9 ranked Lions of the College of New Jersey today on the road. The Lions came out on top, 2-1, in overtime to remain undefeated at 11-0-3 and 6-0-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Ramapo takes the loss to fall to 8-4-1 overall and 3-3-1 in conference play.
It was Ramapo who got on the scoreboard first at 11:58 with an unassisted goal from Gabrielle DiLiberto, but the Lions quickly responded with a goal just 16 seconds later when Jessica Goldman launched a ball in front of the net and Marissa Scognamiglio headed the ball past the Ramapo netminder. The game would remain tied at 1-1 at the regulation buzzer forcing overplay play. After a scoreless first ten minutes, Abigail Emmert put away the game winner off an assist from Taylor Lusardi at the 104:58 minute mark.
TCNJ held a 24-8 lead in shots in the game and
Jessica Cusick made 12 saves in goal for Ramapo. Briyanna Femia made three of her own for the Lions.
The Lions also edged Ramapo in corner kicks at 7-2.
The Roadrunners return to action on October 21st when they travel to Montclair State for a 7pm match-up on the road.Â
