Aston, PA: Neumann University field hockey team defeated Ramapo College today 6-2 in a non-conference game. The Knights improve to 7-8 overall while the Roadrunners fall to 1-13 on the year.
Megan Shumate put the Knights on the board with two goals in the first half. She tallied her first goal off a pass from Jessica Harrell to put Neumann on the board 1-0 in the second minute of action (1:59). Shumate then tallied her second goal of the game in the 11th minute (10:54) off a pass from Becky Guinto. The Knights led 2-0 heading into halftime. Neumann led 9-6 in shots in the first half.
Guinto scored her 8th goal of the season for the Knights in the second half in the 42nd minute (41:28) before Alexa McIntyre tallied back-to-back goals in the 47th (46:29) and 54th minute (53:32), extending the lead 5-0.
Nicole Healy scored both goals for Ramapo in the game. She tallied her first goal off a pass from
Stephanie Gallo in the 59th minute (58:20). Aalyssa Moyer added the Knights sixth goal of the game in the 66th minute (65:33) with an assist from Guinto before Healy scored the final goal of the game in the 69th minute (68:52) off a penalty corner, the goal was assisted by
Meredith McGinnis. The Knights held on for a 6-2 victory.
Neumann held a 20-12 advantage in shots in the game and 15-10 in shots on goal. The Knights also posted 11 penalty corners to Ramapo's nine.
Emily Wisneski and
Emily Kramer each played a half for the Roadrunners. Wisneski tallied four saves while Kramer recorded five.
The Roadrunners return to action on October 20th at 7:30pm at NJAC rival Kean University.
