Union, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team faced off with the Cougars of Kean University tonight where the Cougars posted a 4-1 win over the Roadrunners to improve to 13-4 overall and 2-3 in the conference. With the loss, Ramapo falls to 1-14 overall and remains defeated in conference play at 0-5.
The Roadrunners got on the scoreboard first at 13:50 with an unassisted goal from
Stephanie Gallo, before Krista LaMaina, off an assist by Teresa Carr tied up the game at 19:06. The game remained knotted until halftime where Kean held an advantage in shots at 20-9 and a lead in corners at 13-6.
In the final half, the Roadrunners held the Cougars until 58:57 when LaMaina struck again to take the lead, 2-1 off an assist from Chelsea Mann and Mann gave the Cougars insurance just over one minute later with an unassisted goal to put her team ahead, 3-1. Jordan Colna made it 4-1 at 67:31 before the final buzzer giving the Cougars the three goal, 4-1 conference win.
Kean finished the night with 51 shots to Ramapo's 13 while holding a 29-11 edge in corners.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, October 24th in their final game of the season when they host Stockton University at 3:30pm at the Athletic Center.
