Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team defeated NJAC rival New Jersey City University today at the Athletic Center 4-0. The Roadrunners improve to 8-3-1 overall, 3-2-1 in the NJAC while the Gothic Knights fall to 4-8-1 overall, 0-5 in the conference.
The Roadrunners scored two goals in the first half and two goals in the second half while the Ramapo defense and goalie
Jessica Cusick recorded their fourth shutout of the season.
Amber Hermanns tallied the eventual game-winner on a pass at the top of the box from
Autumn Herring in the eighth minute (7:54) for a 1-0 score. Herring would rip a shot in the 21st minute (20:51) that banked off the crossbar before she scored just 3:07 seconds later on the identical shot. Herring took a pass from
Kelsey Sutherland in the 25th minute (24:44) and shot the ball high over the NJCU goalie and into the back of the net for her second goal of the year.
In the second half, Herring recorded her second assist of the game when
Gabriella DiLiberto recorded a goal in the 49th minute (48:52) before
Gabrielle Gentilucci tallied her first goal of her collegiate career off an assist from Sklyer Rybacki in the 73rd minute (72:01).
Ramapo outshot NJCU 23-3 including 14 shots on goal for the Roadrunners. Ramapo also held an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks in the game. Cusick only needed to stop one shot for the Roadrunners while Cassie Lubonski made ten saves for the Gothic Knights.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, October 17th when they travel to NJAC rival #9 the College of New Jersey for a key conference matchup beginning at 1pm.
