Camden, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team fell to the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers Camden today, 1-5 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up on the road. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 5-6-2 overall and 0-4-1 in conference play. Rutgers Camden, ranked #18 in the nation, improves to 9-3-1 overall and 4-1 in the NJAC.
The Scarlet Raptors went ahead 1-0 in the first half with a goal from Mike Ryan at 14:57 off a free kick right outside the top of the box, before Ryan struck again at the start of the second half, off an assist from James Brett to go ahead 2-0. Ramapo's lone goal came at 65:25 when rookie
Leandro Gonzales laid the ball to
Justin Olaya who scored his fifth goal of the year. Ramapo's goal wasn't enough as Rutgers Camden put away three additional goals to take the conference match-up, 5-1.
The Scarlet Raptors held a 14-11 advantage in shots, and a slight 4-3 edge in corner kicks, while
Matthew Hernandez made four saves in goal for Ramapo.
Ramapo returns to action on Monday, October 12th when they host Lehman College at the Athletic Center at 3:45pm.
